Edinburgh Marathon

It was a toasty hot day not helped by no water for five miles but, despite this, everyone from Pock Runners had a fantastic time at the Edinburgh Marathon with a few first timers and a couple of PBs in spite of the searing heat. Follow this link for some lovely photos taken by Ruth Bourne. Follow this link for a mighty fine report by Howard Cross for the Pocklington Post.

Get Your Kit On....

Most Pock Runners are aware that new kit (vests for starters) is on the horizon....and an email has been sent out to everyone about it. But for those who aren't on email, take a look at the pics of Helen Cross to the right and let us know what you think...not of Helen...of the running vest. Currently, numbers are being worked out for an initial order, so if you're interested, let Sarah Hargreaves know....or someone who's on email, and they can let her know.

Redcar Half Marathon

There was a great turn out by Pocklington Runners this weekend at the Redcar Half on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. It was probably better for spectators than runners who enjoyed the Spring sunshine, but Pocklington turned out some great results as ever. Follow this link for pics of very nearly everyone (apologies to Dave Barker)...although the Pock Runners' photographer missed him, the BBC didn't! (see left)

Wolds 20 Runners

The Wolds 20!

The Wolds 20 doesn't actually stand for the Wolds 20 Minute Run as most normal people may think. It, in fact, stands for 20 MILES.....a long way by anyone's standards. Anyway, the people photographed above actually understood this before they agreed to take part.....and still went along. Take a look for yourselves.....

It was cold and the ground was rock hard but it was lots of fun (excluding a couple of hills) and everyone had a good time.

I'm a Road Runner, Get Me Out Of Here!

It's Hell Up North!

Pocklington Runner newcomer, Helen Townend, must be a total gluton for punishment when she completed the Hell Up North challenge in Delamere Forest in Cheshire with friends.....running somewhere between 10 and 12 miles of hills of hell and bogs of doom!

Mud Glorious Mud!

If this appeals to you, there's not only a Hell Up North run....you could always do the Hell Down South challenge for a bit of a holiday. Well done Helen for getting round!

This could be yours!

Warwick writes New York....

Warwick in NY

Warwick does New York

And when Warwick does New York, he does it properly! 3:13:04 to be precise. Really well done Warwick. He and his wife Sharron had a fab time in the Big Apple and he explained how proud he was to be wearing his Pock Runners On Tour vest! Something to also be proud of is the £800 he's raised so far for Children With Leukemia. The thought of the sponsorship might have helped him get out of bed at 3.20am to get to the start in freezing conditions and wait for five shivering hours. Definitely an unforgetable experience! For a small taste of the experience follow this link for a few pics. Take a look at the Pock Post report by following this link.

Simon runs Koln supported by daughter, Alex

Simon Richardson takes Koln by storm...

Pock Runner Simon Richardson competed in a very wet looking Germany at the Koln Marathon and finished the course in an amazing 3:05:08. See some great photos by his daughter Alex (seen right supporting her dad!) although when you take a look you might notice that some peope were cheating. Well done Simon... you're an inspiration as ever.

Warwick goes Stateside!

Warwick's going Stateside.....

If you've been sitting at home worrying about how Warwick Anderson is going to get on in the New York Marathon on 2 November, your sleepless nights are over, because now you can get yourself online on the day and follow his progress for yourselves. By the magic of the interweb, you can follow this link to watch the race live and follow this link (not now!) after 2.20pm on the day and look up no 312001. Oh, and Paula Radcliffe's running, so you might like to watch her for a bit too. Warwick's putting himself through the marathon for the worthy cause of Children with Leukaemia, and if you'd like to part with some cash to assist him then follow this link to go to his sponsorship site. AND after you've watched the marathon; sponsored the man; you can go to the charity Frankie Dettori style race night at the Rugby Club on Wednesday, 12 November. It'll cost you £3 per ticket for chilli (inc vegetarian) and baked potato. There are eight races at £1 a go with half the winnings going to the winner (of course) and half to Children with Leukaemia. Good luck Warwick!

The amazing Haile Gebreselassie and the amazing brother in law of some Pock Runner or other

Haile Thought Of.....

Pock Runners Dennis Speck and Richard Ginn would have broken something to have their photo taken at the Berlin Marathon with the legendary Haile Gebrselassie, but they arrived a day too late for Haile, so the limelight was taken by Dennis's brother-in-law, who was lucky enough to meet the man himself. However, truth is Richard did break something beforehand and still managed to finish the course in 4:36 with his broken arm in pot. Oh, and the brother-in-law of the man who met Haile got a PB of 2:54:52.

Race 4 Life - York, Sunday 6 July

A massive well done to a group of ladies from Pock Runners who endured monsoon conditions on York's Knavesmire Racecourse on Sunday 6 July to run in the Race For Life. Incredibly well done to Kath and Maz (pictured right before the race), Little  Rachael, Faye, Adele and Bethany and Rachael. We'd take our hats off to you all, if it wasn't raining outside! New Junior Runner Megan Whitelock (pictured right inset) ran with her mum and said that she really enjoyed it, but that it was very wet and muddy.
