Amazing Marathons in 2011
Well here they are...the 2011 Pocklington Runners' marathoners...and what a fine bunch they are....
Listed below are (nearly) all the runners and riders for marathons that Pocklington Runners are taking part in during the early part of this year....although the majority are heading for London with the quirky exception of Mr Pullon, who has opted for the lure of Halstead and Essex! Charlie Hope is running Edinburgh; Simon Rycroft and Helen Reevell are doing Windermere and Richard Ginn is doing two, just to be clever.

Adele Shipley
Adele is taking part in the London Marathon and raising money for the local charity of St Leonards Hospice in York. She has run five marathons previously with a PB of 3:40 in London.

Adrian Holden
Ady is running London and raising money for Children With Leukaemia. If you'd like to find out more about his fundraising, or would like to donate, please go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AdrianHolden. He's run two marathons before with a PB of 4:43 in London.

Alison Thornton
Alison Thornton is running London, having got good for age last year. She's run two marathons in the past and is looking to improve on a great PB of 3:25.

Andrew Gill
London for Andrew will be his first marathon and he's doing it for Get Kids Going, a charity who help purchase equipment for disabled children and get them into sports. Sponsor him by going to www.justgiving.com/drewgill.

Charlie Hope
This year, Charlie's running the Edinburgh Marathon for UK Fibromyalgia, a charity very close to her heart. It's her first marathon, so if you'd like to help her on her way, then why not sponsor her.

Clive Reid
Clive has already gained a little bit of experience when it comes to marathon running...this year's London is his 24th or so. Not bad....and with a PB of 2:27, he hasn't hung around in the past.

Dave and Emma Barker
Dave is running with his daughter Emma and, together, they're running for Macmillan Cancer Research. Dave has run five marathons in the past, with a PB set in London of 3:18. This is Emma's first so any result will be a PB. Good luck to them both...and if you'd like to sponsor them, go to www.justgiving.com/emma-barker.

Debbie Cahill
Debbie's running London this year and is raising money for the very worthy cause of Help for Heroes. This will be her third marathon in total. She did her best marathon time in Dublin where she gained a PB of 4:03 so will probably be keen to try and break the four hour mark this time round.

Helen Reevell
Helen is taking the tougher option and heading for the Lakes to do the Windermere Marathon. She's done two marathons before and gained her PB in London with a time of 5:01.

Howard Cross
Howard has done six marathons in the past and obviously managed to keep out of the coffee houses in Amsterdam for long enough to gain a PB of 3:28. Howard is running for Help the Heroes. Take a look at his website and pledge some money.....www.justgiving.com/Howard-Crosswilliamcross.

Jill Dowson
The lovely Jill has run two marathons in the past and this year in London is hoping to beat her PB of 3:46. She's using London as part of her training to complete an ironman later in the year and has gained sponsorship from local company, Rockcurl.

Jim Holding
Jim got his PB of 3:14 in Nottingham and has done two marathons in total. Good luck to him in London this year.

Kevin Norman
Kevin has never run a marathon before, so will definitely be getting himself a PB this year. As a first marathon, London will be a great experience for him.

Linda Harvey
This is Linda's first marathon, and she hopes to raise as much money as she can for the British Heart Foundation as well as get a great time in London. Sponsor her online at http://original.justgiving.com/lindaharvey3/.

Marcus Bourne
Marcus has run two marathons before with a PB of 4:14 in Edinburgh a couple of years ago. This time, he's running London for the Round Table Children's Wish so will be doing his best to do the charity and himself proud. Take a look at his JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/marcus-bourne.

Mike Pullon
Yes, Mike's been torn away from the bright lights of our capital city and tempted away to take part in the Halstead & Essex Marathon instead, where he's raising money for Shelter. He's run five marathons in the past and gained a brilliant PB of 3:26 at Mablethorpe. From Mablethorpe to Essex....Mike really knows how to live! Sponsor his efforts at www.justgiving.com/Mike2011.

Richard Ginn
Not satisfied with just one marathon this year, ultra-marathon man Richard is going for two (that we know of) and is taking on London and Edinburgh. His PB of 2:56 gained in Edinburgh is pretty impressive.

Sarah Hargreaves
Sarah's running for the same charity as Marcus...the Round Table Children's Wish. Sponsor her here.... www.justgiving.com/4simon. She's only run one marathon before....in Edinburgh, where she gained a PB of 4:16.

Simon Richardson
Simon's another marathon veteran and has run 12 in total. He's running London where he got his amazing PB of 2:40.

Simon Rycroft
Simon's running Windermere....which will be his third marathon and is chasing a PB of 3:22....doubtful on such a hilly course so he's going to try for good for age later in the year when he's running something a bit flatter.

Steve Fletcher
Steve is running London for Diabetes UK and although he doesn't have an online sponsorship site, he probably wouldn't object to you pressing cash into his hand! He's run four marathons before with a PB of 4:53 gained at Lochaber. Good luck Steve.

Steven Worth
Steven has only run one marathon in the past, which he ran in a great time of 3:09. This was in Nottingham and, this year, he's looking to better that in London. He's running for Children with Leukaemia and you can sponsor him by going to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/stevenworth.

Sue Brown
Sue's running London for the Bobath Centre who specialise in the treatment of cerebral palsy in children and adults. She's run three marathons...her best time being in Edinburgh, where she ran a great 3:47.

Tom Danby
Speedy Tom has done three marathons in the past, but didn't quite finish one a few years ago in Amsterdam, so is hoping to do better in London this year. He'll also be hoping to better his amazing PB of 2:38 that he gained in London.

Trish Curran
Trish is running London for Cancer Research. It's her first marathon, so the very best of luck to her. Watch this space for her online sponsorship page.

Warwick Anderson
Warwick's done a marathon or two in the past....ten in fact....his best being London in a time of 3:07 and, this year, he's running for Children with Leukaemia so get online and sponsor him www.bmycharity.com/wacaracing.
