Middlesbrough Tees Pride 10k 2008
Race report by Howard Cross

21 September 2008
Sunday 21st September was an excellent day for running the third Middlesbrough 10k. Joining approximately 2,400 runners around the flat fast course, six of Pocklington Runners made the trip up north well worthwhile.
The outright winner of this year’s race was Ian Hudspith in 29:43. The Ladies race was won by Angela Hibbs in 36:22.
Helen Cross was in great form and completed the course in an amazing third place overall in the women's race, an absolutely brilliant run for Pocklington Runners in 37:45.
Alan Kendra ran/walked the course in a brilliant time of 40:10. I proved to myself that the marathon training is going well and rounded the course in 41:11.
Next to bless us all with a really hearty effort was our very own Kevin Norman who really proved that burning the candle at both ends really isn't the way to a PB. Kevin still managed to pull out a good time of 41:45. Well done Kevin.
Thankfully Paul Sheridan was hotter than his post race pie, and made it over the finishing line in good time too. He ran an excellent time of 45:56. Jill Dowson was in good form, after following Kevin's racing pre log, managed an excellent time in 47:05. Well done Jill.
Middlesbrough 10k 2008 is an excellent course to achieve a PB and the goody bag and T-Shirts were well worth the fees. Maybe an excellent contender for a club trip in 2009?
I just wanted to plug this year's East Yorkshire Cross Country 2008. If you want to build up stamina and strength for next year's 10k summer league and races, this is the one for you. Helen Cross, Pockington Runners ladies' team captain needs lots of ladies to come along too. “We can win a team prize!!”
The cross country is an excellent fun thing to participate in; best enjoyed if you invest in a pair of off road shoes and don't take it too seriously!! Be prepared to get muddy, have fun and enjoy it with us on the dates shown. See last year's reports and pictures to get you in the mood.
Your Sunday mornings will never be the same again!
