Tees Valley Leisure Redcar Half Marathon 2008
Race report by Howard Cross

Warwick and his supporters after the race!

20 April 2008

In the 26th running of the Redcar Half Marathon incorporating the northern championships, three of our athletes made the trip north to fly the flag for Pocklington Runners.

On a pretty cold and windy morning some excellent times were recorded with Pock Runners again proving that they are in the top flight of road running.

The defending champion of the lady’s 2007 race, Helen Cross, came up against some class opposition and battled her way through the field to emerge first home for Pock in a time of 1:24:09; fifth place in the ladies race and 57th overall.

Warwick Anderson continued to show he is up there with the best and, with his family supporting him around the course, he ran around in a time of 1:26:47  in 81st place.  Well done Warwick -  great effort.

Hot on Warwick’s heels came Ed Rawlings who, even though he was carrying a slight injury, still had a really good TROT around in 1:27:45, and 97th place overall. Well done to Ed.

Three of our best in the top 100 is pretty good going.

If you care to take a look at the photos you will also recognise Tom Danby, wearing a really dodgy vest but still running managing to run an excellent time of 1:15:29 - 17th position overall. Although Tom was running second claim for another club, he had to meet up with his real running buddies because none of his second claim club people wanted him! Tom maintains he is a Pock Runner through and through, and also said that he would have run faster in a Pock Runners vest!!
