Inter Counties Cross Country And World Trials
Race report by Howard Cross
15 March 2008
The UK Inter-Cross Country Championships have taken place at Wollaton Park in Nottingham for the past nine years. These Championships are one of the most important cross country meetings of the domestic season with over 4,000 competitors taking part. The Championships take place in over 500 acres of historic deer park.
Entry to take part in the event is by invitation only, and our very own Helen Cross earned her right to wear a Humberside Vest and represent the Humberside team. The senior women's race, as with all the races of the day, brought together the finest runners from around Britain, and the competition is of a very high standard as you can imagine. Over the 8km race, the winner was Laura Kenny from Warwickshire in a time of 27.56. Helen shone through with a really excellent performance in 103rd place out of 255 runners in a time of 32.11. Well done to Helen for a very gutsy performance on the day.
